Clayton Heights Recreation Centre

As one of the largest civic Passive House certified buildings in North America, Clayton Heights Recreation Centre’s vision was to create a hub for its local community. This centre provides community services
for recreation, library, arts, and parks, in a seamlessly integrated facility.
During the initial concept and schematic phases, the project team sought to create a facility that would extend the forest in its outer perimeter through the building form. Various tests on the facade and structural
form were created through physical modeling. The resulting structural system created a canopy that mimicked the forest’s grid.
